Because I believe diet and exercise are so important, I’m often frustrated with the recommendations I receive. Nutrition and natural health ideas are often so negative (don’t eat this, watch out for that) or so rigorous (be sure to eat some raw, natural, organically grown vegetable I’ve never heard of) or so complicated, I end up ignoring them. And yet, I know diet is critical to my health and well-being, so I made up my own rules. My objective was simplicity, so all of you with greater will-power and more discipline, cut me some slack, OK? For the rest of us, I hope you find them useful.

1. Eat less. I used to eat until I was
Retirement Communities - Trends to Watch
...my website and I do not know if it would be the same on others, although I think it would. You would be surprised to know that while people search for housing considered affordable, it seems a contradiction that they ...
full, and then snack as a hobby. And, sometimes I still do. But, more and more, I decide when I’ve eaten enough, leave room for a treat later, and simply choose to eat a little less. I think it helps.

2. Drink more water. I used to try to drink 8 glasses a day, but I usually ended up either losing count or just going to the bathroom a lot. Now, on my way to the table I stop by the sink and grab a glass of water. I figure that’s more water than most people drink, it probably helps me eat less (see Rule #1), and sometimes it reminds me to drink even more. Close enough.

3.
Face Retirement By Preparing For Change
...use some tweaking, here are three attitude shifts you can put into place to guide your way to an easier retirement transition. The first attitude is one of accepting a challenge; rising to the occasion. Believing that change stimulates growth ...
Eat more fruit. Benjamin Franklin said, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.” I just know apples, a banana, some grapes or something “exotic” like a mango or a kiwi tastes good, and it’s the fastest, most portable and convenient food I’ve found. A handful of those little baby carrots beats a sandwich by a good 90 seconds!

4. Eat your vegetables. Yeah, still listening to my mother. But on the positive side, they’re so easy! No sauces, no mixing or blending or nothing! Raw, steamed or microwaved, they’re great for adding color to a meal (greens, yellows, and beans in all sorts of colors). I know fresh and organically grown is best, and sometimes
Where are the Baby Boomers Planning to Retire?
...live within a short drive of them for a fraction of the price.
5. Eat more rice and baked potatoes. I score points with my doctor, my “significant other” and again, it’s about the easiest cooking I’ve figured out.

6. Stretch when you feel like it. I used to follow a routine that recommended stretching and yoga for about 30 minutes every morning. Wonderful stuff! Very healthy. And someday I’m going to give it another try! For now, every morning, and several times during the day, I stand up and try to reach the ceiling. I bend, twist, shake my shoulders, breath deep, whatever seems to feel good at the moment. Then I get back to work.

7. Avoid exercise and elevators.
Retirement Communities: The Web, Living Longer, and New Questions
...enjoy the wonders and beauty of this world, more time to help preserve them, time to help make a better world utilizing your experience, volunteering, mentoring, giving back and time to improve your health. There is much on the horizon. ...
OK, I believe jogging and sweating and lifting weights are good for me. And I do some of it. But I also find it useful to walk around the block to get the mail (the box is across the street) or take the stairs instead of the elevator. I walk the dog, push the lawnmower and play tennis and golf with my friends. That way I figure I’m exercising and leaving the gyms open for the rest of you.

8. Spend time with friends. Talking, sharing dreams, giving and receiving support, solving life’s great mysteries and debating politics or religion with a friend does wonders for the soul. And, hugs are good. And if you have a
Creative Early Retirement Planning On A Budget
...is A Penny Earned We have all heard the saying above many times before, but do you really know what it means? If you are like most people you probably think about savings accounts, stocks, and other investment means. The ...
life-partner, I find talking regularly seems to avoid a number of other problems, as well!

9. Laugh every day. Tell a joke, wrestle with your dog or play with the kids next door, but have some fun! Life’s short.

10. Plan for dessert! At the end of the day, I really like something special to top it all off. So, I plan for a bite of chocolate or a cup of low-fat pudding or yogurt or a handful of fresh grapes. It sure seems to beat restlessly searching the cupboards and refrigerator for “something” and ending up with a big bowl of ice cream!

Finally, a few words of experience. It’s OK to “slip” once in
Retiring Abroad 5 Reasons You Should Consider Moving Abroad
...main reasons the economy is booming and the government makes it easy for foreginers to retire to Costa Rica. You get the same rights to land and property as Costa Rica residents, there is no tax on your social security ...
a while. At least it better be OK…I seem to do it periodically. Just get up again tomorrow, make the rules simpler, more fun or more appropriate for your situation and get right back on! I don’t think the objective is perfection — there’s no point in having a heart attack getting all stressed out about the rules! Just go have some fun!

Attending the wedding of sister can be a lot of fun because you just get to sit back and let her soak up all the attention and love on her big day. Even if you have always been competitive, her wedding is one day where you want her to shine. Many sisters are so busy sitting back watching all of the planning for the big day that they forget that they also have something important to plan for: a sister of the bride speech. If you happen to be the maid or matron of honor you have probably thought about this, but it is also customary for the sister of the bride to give a speech and
The Top 10 Ways to Improve Your Diet, Your Health & Your Life!
...shake my shoulders, breath deep, whatever seems to feel good at the moment. Just make it sincere and let both your sister and your brother in law know that you are happy for them, in whatever style most
Retirement Communities: The Web, Living Longer, and New Questions
...grow your wealth or will it dwindle?

Most of us get nervous about making a speech, whether it’s to 2000 convention delegates or a PTA meeting at our child’s school. Often, though, people find that’s the worst part of the whole process - the anticipation. The reality is often a lot easier to handle and can even be quite enjoyable, provided that you take the necessary precaution of doing your homework beforehand - preparation.

There are very, very few people who can get up at a moment’s notice and give a good speech totally impromptu and on the spur of the moment. There are plenty of people who think they can and/or who will tell you they can, but the truth is most
Speeches For Brothers and Sisters of the Bride or Groom
...can tell your sister that you can only hope to look as beautiful as she does when you get married, if you aren t already. Also, welcome your new brother in law to the family. If you share a common ...
of them are deluding themselves and boring their audiences to tears.

There are also plenty of speakers who get up and present and make it look easy, as though they hadn’t prepared anything beforehand. These are the real experts who, despite having years of speaking experience under their belts, if anything put more effort into preparation than people who speak for ten minutes once a year at the Golf Club dinner dance.

So, what about that preparation? Really, it’s about remembering those key golden rules that apply to all good business writing and they are:

1.Define exactly not so much what you want to say, as what you want your speech or talk to achieve - ask yourself,
The Top 10 Ways to Improve Your Diet, Your Health & Your Life!
...restlessly searching the cupboards and refrigerator for "something" and ending up with a big bowl of ice cream! Finally, a few words of experience. It's OK to "slip" once in a while. At least it better be OK...I seem to ...
“what do I want the audience to be thinking as I come to the end of my speech?”

2.Find out as much as you can about your audience and ensure your content is very, very relevant to them and their needs.

3.Use language and tone of voice that the audience will understand and identify with - and blend that in with your own natural style of speaking.

4.By all means use a bit of jargon and a few “in” phrases as long as you’re certain the audience understands them, but never use jargon others may not know.

The only extra point I would make here is, remember that people can’t rewind/replay or re-read you. For that reason you can’t
Retirement Communities - Trends to Watch
...universities. This is probably because it is a small niche. So those are some trends that I see. I see the active adult communities being more popular now and in the next few years, with their attractive offerings that appeal ...
expect them to absorb as much detailed information as they would if you were to write it in a document or CD-ROM, which allow them to refer back to details as often as they want.

Knowing your audience is also unusually important here - you’ll find out very quickly if you’ve got it wrong, because you’ll see it in their faces and their body language.

Cut the clutter

Depending on the nature of the presentation you’re making, sometimes you will be giving out delegate packs or some other form of permanent record of your material, so details, expansions, etc can go in there. Whether you’re doing this or not, though, what you say must be clear and uncluttered.

With
Face Retirement By Preparing For Change
...some degree, by keeping a positive outlook and acting on that belief instead of becoming a victim of circumstances can be transformational. Change is the watchword of the universe. All things, including us, must and will change. Learning to grow ...
live speeches, your success is almost entirely dependent on what your audience remembers of what you say. People have very bad memories, and if a speech has been boring or complicated or both, they will remember even less of its content and only recall how terrible it was.

Often senior managers are called upon to give speeches - usually to internal audiences - which cover a wide range of topics, for example a review of the company’s performance over the past year, announcements about new developments, etc. These presentations sometimes last for nearly an hour and attempt to cover more topics than a fat Sunday newspaper. At the end of it the audiences have absorbed very little,
Where are the Baby Boomers Planning to Retire?
...heat in the summers in the south, the Phoenix valley rivals Los Angeles for Smog, and with it being a largely desert state there is a lack of water. Florida, Colorado and Arizona are all worth considering for your retirement. ...
having been mesmerized by the drone of the boss’s voice and an increasingly urgent desire to leave the meeting and go to the washroom.

Yet, argue the senior managers, we have to get all this information over to them at our conference. The answer? Split a one-hour speech down into four fifteen-minuters, interspersed with the other presentations throughout the day or half-day session. (Or if you can’t do that, split the one-hour presentation across four different speakers.) Fifteen minutes is much more comfortable for the audience’s attention span. And the fact that there are more, shorter presentations creates variety which, to totally misquote an old saying is the spice of live communication.

Start by
Retirement Communities: The Web, Living Longer, and New Questions
...lives. These are questions seniors of all ages have and there are many others as well. So many of these life extenders are incorporated at today's retirement communities that active adult retirement communities are becoming like little anti-aging laboratories. Scientists ...
writing yourself a list of points - a structure. This should cover the usual story-telling technique of a beginning, a middle and an end, although the old soap-box principle of “tell ‘em what you’re going to say, say it, then tell ‘em what you just said” is a bit repetitive. Try if you can to keep the main issues in your presentation to fewer than five, no matter how long your speech is. If you can’t actually put it together as a traditional story, what you must do is ensure that one topic leads logically on to the next using some good, workable links.

The right order

It is possible to change direction abruptly in a presentation,
Creative Early Retirement Planning On A Budget
...save. Early retirement planning is not always about saving up ample funds, although, this is important. Think out side the box and look at what you already have. Could you start your early retirement panning by simply scaling back on ...
but you need to be a practised speaker to pull it off and know how to use your stage body language as well as that other wonderful presenter’s tool, silence. Nothing gets an audience’s attention faster than a few seconds of total silence when they’re expecting a stream of words. All of this carried out by a novice speaker who can’t quite get the nuances right, however, can be a disaster.

Links are actually quite useful even if they are a little abrupt, because they act as punctuation to your material. They also tell the audience that we’re now moving on to something new. Your links can be as simple as a few words (”now that
Retiring Abroad 5 Reasons You Should Consider Moving Abroad
...choice for Americans. You wont feel out of place with a large and booming expat community. Like many Americans you may be concerned about inflation, high prices and maintaining your standard of living when you retire. Retiring to Costa Rica ...
we’re all familiar with the financial background of the new project, let’s see how its implementation will affect the company’s turnover in the next 12 months.”) They can also be several sentences long, but shouldn’t be any longer than that otherwise they cease to be links and become short topics in their own right.

Openers and closers

Many people will tell you that a powerful opening and close of a speech are terribly important and in fact as long as those are good you can say pretty well what you like in between. I don’t necessarily agree. I’ve seen (and written for) many speakers who have agonized during several sleepless nights over how to start their speech
  I Heart Maine Redux
...in Maine, I don't hate it with a vengeance. Long, cold and snowy though it may be, there are worst places to be in winter. One of them is Washington State, where I learned that they tell you about the ...
with a big bang at the company sales conference, when all the time a simple, sometimes gently humorous opening is far easier - and more effective.

It helps here if we re-examine just why openers and closers are important in the first place. To put it politely, they help to locate the audience, to act as a signal that you’re about to start talking to them about something interesting or that you’ve just finished telling them something interesting.

To put it crudely, sometimes the opener at least has to act as an alarm clock - waking the audience up after a narcolepsy-inducing previous speaker - or as air-raid siren, warning the audience to settle down, shut up and pay
  Managing Your Retirement Plan
...choosing each recruitment annuity. No matter which one you decide, the cost that is expected is the same. If you are an individual who have a composite of beneficiaries, then you have to consider options that will also benefit them. ...
attention.

But even if the speaker prior to you has been intensely boring and has had the whole audience shifting from one numb seatbone to the other for 45 minutes, you don’t necessarily have to go out there in a top hat and false nose riding a unicycle and playing a trombone at the same time. What will get the audience’s attention is for you to go out there and be yourself.

Say something amusing, heart-warming, witty, whatever, as long as it’s something you would say in “real life.” You probably don’t want to say something rude about the previous speaker, although it will be tempting, but an in-company joke if it’s an in-company audience, or even a
Retirement Living The Ultimate In Quality Lifestyle
...living in Costa Rica means you can be as relaxed or energetic as you wish in one of the most diverse and beautiful countries in the world. Your own paradise just a few hours away Retirement living in Costa Rica ...
relevant quote by a famous person (there are numerous books and websites where you can find quotes) will instantly signal a major change and have the audience looking forward to what you have to say.

The opener and closer don’t have to be earth-shattering, but they do have to be part of you and your material. If you’re naturally a quiet, private sort of person there’s no way you should struggle with a passionate, emotive ending to your speech, even if others think you should be able to carry it off. One very important rule about giving speeches is if you don’t think something will work for you on the night, you’re right - it won’t. Don’t
Best Man Speech Idea: Top 10 Best Man Speech Ideas
...toast to the bride and groom. Congratulate or bless them, and express your best wishes to the bride and groom, wish them a long and happy life. This Best Man Speech Ideas Top 10 is a quick summary of my ...
be talked into retaining anything you’re not comfortable with, because something that’s a small hiccup in rehearsals will become a major stumbling block on show day.

On-stage nervousness greatly magnifies any little glitch. If a few, self-effacing words of “thanks for listening” are all you think you will feel comfortable with at the end of your speech then that’s what you say, even if you use a speechwriter who tells you otherwise (and some of my colleagues would.)

Spoken speech

Once you have created your structure and decided how best to open and close your speech, the best way to ensure it sounds natural is to switch on an audio recorder, talk through the structure to yourself, and transcribe
  Retire in Bend Oregon
...been rated 23rd in the world as a golf destination by Golf Digest. Choose from more than 25 unique courses, some easygoing to championship layouts like Sunriver s Crosswater course, designed to challenge even the lowest handicappers. Bend also has ...
the recording. (It’s a terrible job, but worth it.) Now, edit that transcript and tidy it up a bit, but don’t take out the commas and the periods. Long sentences in speeches can leave you gasping for breath and losing the plot. And don’t add in anything you wouldn’t say in real life.

Spoken speech is simply, only, what it says it is. It is monologue or dialogue as you would speak, not as you would write the same information or thoughts down on paper or screen. All you have to do is forget trying to write out your speech material (or your drama dialogue or narration) and merely say it out loud or
Is Slow Play Ruining Your Weekend?
...First, survey and line up your putt while other players are putting. That means being ready when it s your turn. Second, use the Continuous Putting Rule if you re not in someone else s line. If you leave yourself ...
in your mind. Then commit those words to paper or screen, a few at a time or in short phrases and sentences.

If it sounds right, it is right, and if it sounds wrong it is wrong even though it may look right on paper or screen.

Even great playwrights interpret spoken speech in exactly the same, uncomplicated way. Where you see their tremendous talent and creative genius is in how they use that simple technique to capture the uniqueness of the characters and scenarios they create. Think Moli re, Anton Chekhov, Henrik Ibsen, Tennessee Williams, Jack Rosenthal, Alan Bennett and many more. Their characters’ dialogue may seem unnatural to us when we hear
10 Wedding Speech Tips for the Best Man
...End with lots of good wishes and a toast to the good health and happiness of the newly married couple. 10. Prepare your speech ahead. Take into consideration all these points and use websites and speech guides to prepare your ...
it but that’s because the character is surreal and extraordinary - and the dialogue is, in fact, perfectly natural for that character.

I’ve lost count of the number of speeches I’ve listened to (not written by me I hasten to add) that came over as completely different from the personality of the speaker. This happens because many people believe that giving business presentations is a serious artform where the grander the verbiage and more ostentatious and self-important the oratory the more points they’ll score with their audience. It also happens because people write bad speeches so they are virtually indistinguishable from bad brochure copy or website text or any other manifestation of overstuffed corporate-babble.

Either way, it’s wrong.
Why You Shouldn't Buy Into Old Age Stereotypes
...that will give you the wisdom to choose and the direction to turn your thoughts for the greater good. Learn what you can and cannot control and give yourself the benefit of the doubt. In summary, how you age is ...
If you write stuff for yourself to say that reads like it was written for some pontificating old codger or worse still, for some formal brochure copy, you will come across as very two-dimensional, shallow, and dishonest. You will also make yourself very uncomfortable and stumble over the words and phrases, which adds “incompetent” to the list in the previous sentence.

Okay, you shouldn’t give a speech in the same ribald style you might use to tell a joke to your friends in the changing rooms at the gym or the 19th hole at the Golf Club. But you must ALWAYS be, and write for, yourself and your own personality. Unless you’re a trained actor, the
Adding Captions to your Photo Calendar
...live." Unknown "Middle age is when you've met so many people that every new person you meet reminds you of someone else." Ogden Nash "Adults are obsolete children." Dr. Seuss [Theodor Seuss Geisel] (03/02/1904-1991) "Forty is the old age of ...
only way you’re going to come over well is if you are as at ease as possible with your material. This won’t happen if you write words and phrases that may look very eloquent on paper, but which are lumpy mouthfuls to say.

The right style is always conversational. The best speakers always talk to audiences as if they were talking to a friend over a cup of coffee - a natural, friendly, personal style. Gone are the days when being in a business environment meant that you should never use a short word where a long one would do. Only lawyers and doctors do this nowadays and that’s largely because of their respective jargon which
  Gag Gifts
...nasty dates. It may be a little old school, but it works! Tell your friend to put it on the chair of a really irritating date, and I bet he/she won't ask you out again! There are still countless other ...
they’re stuck with. (Can you think of a short way of saying “antitrypanosomiasis?” In fact it might be “drugs to cure sleeping sickness,” but even that’s pretty long.)

Why a full script?

You notice that I say you must write your speech, even though I know you may deliver it from bullet points or entirely from memory. Highly experienced public speakers often do not write their speeches but work only from a memorized opening and close. This is fine if you’re a very experienced public speaker. If you’re not, don’t risk it.

A full script offers a number of advantages:
It provides a detailed framework if you’re an inexperienced speaker
It allows you
Lifestyle in Active Adult Retirement Communities
...seen as a reward for coping with the duties and responsibilities of a lifetime of work. They are the Golden years of your life, and the active adult community can help insure that they are everything you dreamed. Natalie Aranda ...
to develop and balance your content more easily
It means you don’t have to make anything up as you go along
It acts as a safety net if you do speak from memory then forget something
It keeps you to your allotted time (most speakers present at an average of 120 words per minute, so divide the total wordcount of your written speech by 120 to get its rough presentation length in minutes.)
It allows others to cue your visual support accurately (if relevant)

The downside of creating a full script is that other people in your organization can tinker with it, if they know it exists. However this is a small price to pay
Golf Exercise Routine: No Sweat Needed
...each other.Slowly raise dumbbell to the side and up.Slowly bring back down to pre-stretch position.Do you see how this would quickly build up the strength in the back of your shoulders for a strong take-away and downswing? The only equipment ...
for the reassurance and confidence a full script can give you. As you get more practised at speaking you will probably find that you become less dependent on the script and may work off bullet points or notes, but I still think it’s worth writing the whole thing out initially.

Anecdotes and humor

Unless your presentation is an information-heavy financial report or other totally factual speech, a few anecdotes (preferably personal ones) are highly effective in helping to illustrate the points you make. Especially in England where self-deprecation and extreme modesty are the required penances to be paid by the successful, audiences warm to speakers who tell stories against themselves. That’s probably because your admission of being
The Enjoyable Office: Ten Summertime Joy Breaks
...10. Popsicles Take a popsicle mold to the office. Pour in your favourite juice. Put the pops in the freezer and during the mid-afternoon slump offer homemade popsicles to everyone in the office. Use some of these activities, or make ...
human brings you closer to them and therefore you seem more approachable and believable.

It’s also because audiences are naturally voyeuristic and love to feel they’re getting an inside glimpse of the real you. Whatever the reason, though, anecdotes work, as long as they’re short, to the point, and totally relevant to your other material.

Humor is something to be approached with caution, although used wisely it works superbly well. There is a big difference between being witty and telling jokes, and unless you are a first-class raconteur you must avoid the latter in your speeches, even if they’re for “after-dinner” or other social purposes.

If you’re not a naturally “funny” person you won’t suddenly transform yourself
How To Quickly Achieve Financial Success With Your Own Internet Home Business
...rough one but as you can see, it is extremely simple. The fact is that there are many smaller things that must be accomplished within each of those listed and even more that I haven t mentioned here. It would ...
into one just because you’re standing up in front of a group of people. If anything that tends to make you less, not more funny. So whatever happens don’t be persuaded to tell a few jokes if that’s something you would never dream of doing informally at a social gathering.

If you do feel comfortable telling jokes, then use them sparingly, as punctuation - unless you’re to be “best man” at a wedding or the entertainment after a social dinner, wall-to-wall jokes are usually inappropriate. Jokes in a speech should always be tailored to the audience and material. Gag writing is a specialized writing technique and there are quite a few good books around on comedy
  Golf Training Programs For Women
...those who shun golf exercises. The result is that women golfers are no longer the brunt of jokes and extremely high standards and amazing performances are now very visible. Good golf specific training programs have made all the difference. About ...
writing, if you’re interested in learning how to do it.

If you’re looking for jokes to adapt there are some good joke books available in bookstores (including one or two written by yours truly…) and of course you can find them online via the usual big sites - try keying in +JOKES+(YOUR SUBJECT). If you key the same thing into a search engine you’ll also come across jokes archived on websites devoted to the subject concerned.

Something you need to be mindful of is copyright and legally you may not have the right to use a joke as it appears in a book or on a website, because when you give the speech that could constitute public broadcast.
How to Give a Funny Best Man's Wedding Speech
...wedding. Use caution, these are just, but examples. They may work in some cases and sometimes they might not. It all depends on how the best man knows the couple. One only has to take into consideration that this is ...
Obviously I can’t be more specific about this because the circumstances vary from country to country. If you’re at all concerned about the copyright implications of using jokes in your speeches you should ask your legal advisers for guidance.

Rehearse, rehearse

I don’t want to be depressing, but once you’ve finished all the hard work of preparing your material, writing your speech and (if relevant) organising your visual support, you then get down to the really hard work - rehearsing. You’ve got to practise, practise, practise.

Not too soon before the event, or you’ll be so stale and fed up with the speech you’ll lose interest. But don’t wait until the night before, either. Memorize the speech
Some of the Benefits of Playing Golf
...work or can even be some problems that you're facing that home.Being outside and enjoying the game of golf is an ideal way to relax. What you must memorize perfectly is the content, and the order.

Then on the day, you will use your script or bullet points as a reminder - not as an essential element that you would be desperate without. All that rehearsal - in the shower, in the car, to your family or if they don’t appreciate your oratory, even to your dog - will pay off because you will be confident a) that your material is good and b) that you know it
  Human Mutation?
...ten-foot bee or a one-inch elephant cannot easily be forgotten S. is for Senses.
If you’re giving your presentation in a large conference environment you may find yourself working with a show crew and a very sophisticated set and equipment. Novice speakers can feel daunted by all this stuff but what you must always remember is that it’s there to make your job easier, not harder.

Many times my elbows have been clutched nervously by speakers who’ve just caught their first glimpse of a teleprompting device, only to find that the next day when they’ve used it they wonder how they ever managed without one. I won’t go into how to use a teleprompter here because it’s a bit complex and in any case, when you rehearse your presentation one of
Magazine Subscriptions Make Great Holiday Gifts
...Golf Digest in your mailbox as a gift, every month that you pull that magazine out of your mailbox, you will smile and remember who gave you that fantastic magazine subscription. Magazineestore.com offers the lowest publisher authorized prices available. Janie ...
the show crew will teach you how it works.

All I will say is that teleprompters are wonderful, because they free you to deliver your performance without having to worry about anything at all - your whole speech, or your bullet points, are always in the right place without you having to do anything. And provided that you don’t wander “off script” and start ad libbing with no warning, your visual support material will be cued by someone else too. All you do, is be the star.

Any further tips? Oh yes, cue cards.

I know they’re low tech, but the places where you may have to speak are not always going to be state-of-the-art theatres, so
Singing The Blues - You Know It Don't Come Easy
...names like Michelle, Amber, Jennifer, Tiffany, Brooke, Brittany and Heather can't sing the Blues no matter how many men they shoot in Memphis. One, always get two sets made, not just one. Keep them in separate places - e.g. one in your pocket and one in your car - so if one set gets lost you know you’ve got another handy.

And two, ensure that both sets are irrevocably tied together in correct order via a securing device looped through a hole in the corner of each card. That way you can turn the cards over as they’re used, but should you drop them you won’t have to fumble around trying to pick them up and re-order them. The securing device does not have to be sophisticated, as long
Energy Enhancement Meditation and the Ego Strategies of the Violator, Interrogator, and the Star
...The Kundalini Kriyas, The Five Elemental Paths Of The Chi Of Chinese Alchemical Taoism, The Grounding Of Negative Energies, V.I.T.R.I.O.L, The Art Card Of The Thoth Tarot, Access To Kundalini Energy, Strong Psychic Protection, Learn The Merkaba, Pyramid Protection, Power ...
as it’s strong.

I once confounded the CEO of a major European telecomms company who, fortunately for me, was an engineer by trade, when I showed him the high-tech fasteners I’d used on his cue cards. “Good stuff,” he said, “they work well. Can my secretary get these at a stationery store?”

“No,” I replied, “from your local car dealer’s workshop. They’re wiring loom clips.”

There are plenty of people who think they can and/or who will tell you they can, but the truth is most
Speeches For Brothers and Sisters of the Bride or Groom
...need to write some prose or something to that effect for a sister of the bride speech, but that is not necessary. Of course, if you want to write a poem for the new couple, that would be great and ...
of them are deluding themselves and boring their audiences to tears.

Unless you’re a trained actor, the
Adding Captions to your Photo Calendar
...live." This won’t happen if you write words and phrases that may look very eloquent on paper, but which are lumpy mouthfuls to say.

Even though the game can provide its own stress you can really reflect on what ...
as well as you can, but don’t worry if you forget the odd “and” or “but.” If you say “er” and hesitate slightly now and again, it will make your speech sound more natural.

Make for mental-movies (picture) a talkie. Hear words, a song orsounds like a roaring wind. You can use Touch, Smell, and Taste to link new-to-oldideas permanently. ...
well.

If you want to sing the blues you need a good Blues singers name. You may adopt ...
they’re useful. Two very, very important things to remember.

Some people it seems are almost filled with dread at the prospect of retirement - of bringing an end to the well known and comfortable routine of each working day. But if that happens to be you, I hope that by the end of this brief guide, you will be positively jumping for joy at the prospect of giving up your mundane, predictable, day to day routine, and itching to grasp the wealth of opportunities which lie before you.

In this article, we will outline seven ways by which to gain contentment in retirement.

1. PMA - Positive Mental Attitude. It has been said that ‘attitude is everything’ and it certainly holds true that if you are open to
  Holiday Retirement Corporations
...three current company shareholders, the Holiday Retirement Corp. was formed in 1987 and presently employs seven thousand five hundred people with about two hundred located in its company headquarters in Salem, Oregon. With its forerunner Holiday Management Company, the Holiday ...
the prospect of new challenges and pastimes, you will thoroughly enjoy this new phase of your life.

2. Stay active, both physically and mentally. Do not get into the habit of sitting around the house vegetating, get out and enjoy doing what you never used to have time to do. Play more golf, go fishing, join a walking club, all for the social interaction as much as anything. If you are in the house, play sudoku each day and do a crossword to test the grey matter!

3.Travel to places you haven’t been to before. With the world a much smaller place now than before, a trip to Australia or America isn’t nearly as daunting, or expensive for that matter,
  Top Ten Presentation Tips
...your opening and your close.
5. Try to have fun, have a laugh and don’t take yourself too seriously. Be someone who brings a bit of happiness to others, even perhaps when you don’t always feel like it.

Be it your spouse, your children or grandchildren, try to meet up for lunch or go out for dinner when possible, throw family parties, offer to babysit the grandchildren. Quality time with loved ones is to be cherished above all else, because it really does bring pleasure money can’t buy.

In conclusion, retirement is a new phase of your life which you should embrace with open arms. You now have the time to
Speeches For Brothers and Sisters of the Bride or Groom
...a common sense of humor don t hesitate to make a few clean jokes and then congratulate the couple and pass the torch to the next family member so that they can express their congratulations as well.

When my daughter announced she planned to marry the groom I thought I had better carry out some background checks. So I went to his local police station and asked if he was well behaved. The sergeant behind the desk was very reassuring. Apparently they never had any bother with him … whenever he spent the night there.

Somehow you can get away with very corny jokes at a wedding; jokes that would fall very flat at any other venue. Perhaps it is that often half the crowd doesn t know the other half. Or perhaps it is that everybody is trying very hard to be polite, and make it a happy day for the bride and
The 7-Step Guide To A Wonderful Retirement
...for lunch or go out for dinner when possible, throw family parties, offer to babysit the grandchildren. Quality time with loved ones is to be cherished above all else, because it really does bring pleasure money can't buy. In conclusion, ...
groom. But really, I think it s often more likely that most guests have already had one too many and will laugh at anything that s said, even a very modest attempt at humor.

The father of the bride traditionally has a special place at weddings. Most likely this is because he was usually expected to be the host and foot the bill for the reception in times past. Shades of another tradition in some cultures and older times of paying a dowry, and the daughter leaving home to live with the groom s family, I suppose. The bill is often spread around a little more widely between the families these days. But it is still a wrench
  Holiday Retirement Corporations
...Corp. allow for gracious retirement living, giving each community The Touch that underlies the company s fundamental belief and outlook in life that is based on treating people the way we would like to be treated ourselves, making their residences ...
for a father to see his beautiful daughter leave home to live with her new partner. It s the public giving your daughter away tradition that makes it even worse. Many a father of the bride has secretly quickly wiped away a tear or two at his daughter s wedding.

This special place for the bride s father sometimes means he gets the role of master of ceremonies for his daughter s wedding, and must step in from time to time and say a few words to keep the occasion moving along. Sometimes this role goes to the best man, to another guest who is an able speaker, or even to a professional entertainer, if the budget
  Top Ten Presentation Tips
...a tape recorder. Check to see whether they are too detailed / too defensive. Perception often IS reality. These tips will ensure that when you give a presentation, the perception of you is positive and matches your ability. Roberta Prescott ...
stretches that far.

Whether or not he is the master of ceremonies, the father of the bride is usually expected to give a short speech at the reception. The pattern is fairly well established by tradition:

1. A few opening lines, perhaps with some humor to get everyone s attention.

2. Thanks to the guests for coming and to the supportive people behind the organization of the event.

3. Some comments about the day so far, such as flattering comments directed to the ladies.

4. A few personal comments about how it feels to be father of the bride.

5.
How To Write Powerful Presentations, Speeches, And Talks
...your whole speech, or your bullet points, are always in the right place without you having to do anything. And provided that you don't wander "off script" and start ad libbing with no warning, your visual support material will be ...
A few affectionate words on the bride.

6. Perhaps some comment on how the romance started and blossomed into the marriage.

7. A welcome to the family for the groom.

8. Some comments on the couple s plans, a few words of wisdom and advice, and best wishes for their future together.

9. A toast (or two), to the couple and their future, and perhaps to mention absent relatives and friends.

10. A few closing lines, often as the host wishing everyone a pleasant time for the remainder of the festivities.

Putting together a successful speech comes easy to some, but it
Speeches For Brothers and Sisters of the Bride or Groom
...and very sincere. But, you can go casual and simply tell your sister and brother in law that you are happy for them! Since you are the sister, toast wedding congratulations and a bit more and you are off the ...
can be a big help to get a professionally prepared draft and checklist to work off. After all, giving a father of the bride wedding speech may only happen once or twice in the lives of most fathers. And there are few things worse than being told afterwards by the bride s mother that you completely forgot to mention Aunty Mildred s hard work icing the wedding cake!

Or perhaps it is that everybody is trying very hard to be polite, and make it a happy day for the bride and
The 7-Step Guide To A Wonderful Retirement
...challenges and surround yourself with those whom you love.
