You probably came across the fact the human DNA (genome) is just 1.2 percent
different than chimpanzees. The inference is we are almost the same. We are physically, but we got a gene mutation making cognition (thinking), language and speech way-different.

Get this: for the first time science has proof Homo sapiens have a special protein
called neuropsin permitting learning and memory. It first occurred in our nervous system five million years ago, and permits us to journey to the stars instead of swinging from the trees and eat squishy bananas.

Our savannah relatives do not have it. Research is by Dr. Bing Su of the Chinese
Academy of Science, and published in the journal, Human Mutation, May 9, 2007.

we (humans) went our separate way from apes, chimps and monkeys
because we are mutants. A single protein (neuropsin) operating in our Prefrontal Cortex (PFC), the brain structure for planning, analysis, goal seeking and personality, created the chain reaction leading to civilization.

It reached critical mass through social interaction, and continues to improve through interactivity. Call it use-it-or-lose-it. It is human specific.

The title of the research is A Human-Specific Mutation Leads to the Origin of a
Novel Splice Form of Neuropsin, A Gene Involved in Learning And Memory.

Our mutation is in the gene, and humanity comes from the action of the protein, neuropsin, on that gene. It is novel, unique and special to our species. Our PFC
(prefrontal cortex) has developed

Are we a fluke of nature or given millions of years, mutations are a part of the growth of life forms? Is there room for a Godly explanation in our separation
from apes and chimps?

Memory

There are three elements to doubling your long-term memory for fun and profit.
They are: mentally visualizing, association and location.

The language of communication for the brain appears to be pictures, mental imagery. Notice this sequence: (1) mental movies excite (2) emotions, which lead to
particular (3) behaviors and decisions. Association is when we use mental pictures to link new memories to old ones for later recall.

blind people create mental imagery? Can they dream of things
they have never seen?

If you choose to see a poker-dotter zebra this moment, your brain will supply
the images. You can change these images in size, color or altogether to something
different. This second, can you mentally visualize hitting a golf ball into the 18th hole. Bring it closer; make the color of the grass a Kelly green. You can do that at will, right?

Association

We learn by linking, connecting and organizing new ideas to old long-term memories. It happens through purposeful organization (Up links to Down),
the name, Brown is the same word as the color, and Thirty days hath September,
April, June and November, is a rhyme leading to information.

Memory

Achieving Inner Harmony
...of the most important yet overlooked ways to get in touch with your physical and emotional self is to get a good night s sleep. People today often feel as if they have too much work to do and therefore ...
is based on a feedback code when we choose to exercise our short-term memory happening automatically in milliseconds. You look up a telephone number
to dial, remember it for half-a-minute, dial it and kick it out of memory.

It is long-term memory that must be encoded for future access.

Secret

We must surprise Broca, your brain structure involved in language, speech and comprehension. If you do not create a unique link for a new memory, it does not
stick. Google: Paul Broca, French scientist.

If you use this mnemonic aid, you will create mental images that have stickiness and
reappear on your request for retrieval of a memory.

W. is for Weird. Imagine a relationship between the new idea you want to

recall and the old long-term memory you attach it to. Example: the name Haym Solomon, a financier who provided funding for the American Revolution by arranging foreign loans and supplying his personal funds.

Picture King Solomon wearing a high (Haym) crown, and now make it memorable,
weird, by adding a high flying Eagle dropping an egg on the head of king.
The long-term memory is the biblical King Solomon, the new idea is linked to my mental image of the name Haym Solomon, the American financier.

The letter A. is for Animated. See, mentally create action and movement between the linked old and new ideas. How about King Solomon jumping through a burning hoop and leaping ten-feet high (Haym) as he exits

T. is for Three-D. See your mental images in 3-D and it becomes a vivid link you
remember and can easily access later.

C. is for Color. Anytime you add sharp colors to your mental movies you make them
memorable. It is the difference between color tv and old time black and white.

How do you do that? It is your mental intention to see a vivid blue or deep yellow. Your brain delivers it like your ideomotor reflex produces motion by activating your muscles.

H. is for humor. A play on words, a silly joke. Link the new idea with the old in a silly, unnatural way and your brain remembers it.

E. is Exaggerate. A ten-foot bee or a

S. is for Senses. Make for mental-movies (picture) a talkie. Hear words, a song or
sounds like a roaring wind. You can use Touch, Smell, and Taste to link new-to-old
ideas permanently.

That is all there is to it. Linking is baby-easy and can double your long-term memory. If you learn to exaggerate, be ridiculous and make things out-of-proportion in your mental imagery, then you master memory.
